Why Rose House?

Rose House is a campus-focused inclusive Christian community in the Lutheran tradition.  Faith is a journey that everyone experiences differently. In college, your faith might be challenged by classes you take or experiences you encounter. Perhaps you’ve never experienced faith before, or maybe you’re aching for a deeper relationship with God through Jesus.

We Are Open

Open minds. Open Hearts. Open for everyone.  Rose House is a place for all who seek.  Come with your questions - they are welcome and encouraged because that's how faith grows most deeply.  Come with your full self - your hopes and fears; your laughter and tears.  We want to know you

We are Present

We’re an active and intimate group meeting at the student center just 1/2 block south of campus.  Students have 24/7 access to the Rose House comforts and amenities that facilitate student gatherings for small group meetings and doing homework, prayer and meditation or fellowship and escape from school life for just a little while.

We Are Together

More than anything, being a part of Rose House means being together during this exhilarating/terrifying/fantastic time known as college.  We are together...

  • on Wednesdays for Table Talk.  Come to Rose House at 7:07pm each week for conversation, friends, and some snacks!  The focus of our time together is discussion about living this life of faith.
  • on Thursdays for Theology on Tap.  Each week we gather for Beer, Conversation and God at a local establishment.  Watch this space for specific location.
  • on Sundays for worship with our covenant partner St Thomas Lutheran Church.  They are located at 3800 E Third St.  (Services at 8:30am and 11:00am). Afterwards, we share a home-cooked lunch together as a group and engage in lively conversations about many aspects of faith.

Welcome to Rose House!

You are welcome here! Rose House is an intentionally safe place - open to all students - regardless of faith background, prior church connections, economic status, political affiliation or persuasion, ancestry, color, national origin, race, sexual or gender orientation, disability or handicap, or academic standing.

A space for you to live into your identity as beloved child of God.

An alum's wish:
"May Rose House be a place that you feel rooted, nurtured, and reminded of God's magnificent love. You are family here, throughout the seasons. Come, grow, and branch out to serve those around you. Join the community, the family tree, all are welcome here."

Lutheran Campus Ministry at IU is a Reconciling in Christ ministry.  LCM-IU, through its Affirmation of Welcome echoes the apostle Paul's claim that in Christ "there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female" (Galatians 3:28). Christ has made us one. We acknowledge this reconciliation extends to people of all sexual orientations and gender identities.
